Good morning, Ralf.
RG> Hello Rick! [stop]
Stop what?
RG> Got your netmail [stop]
Stop netmail? It just barely got started!
RG> Slight delay getting mail out [stop]
If it's stopped, that's more than just a delay.
RG> Lead dog eaten by mutant beavers [stop]
That explains a lot. BTW, isn't a "." easier to type than a "stop"?
RG> Pigeons doing weight training as backup [stop]
Muscle bound pigeons might have trouble staying airborne. But maybe they
could run fast.
RG> Will reply soonest [stop]
Don't reply to Soonet, I'm on Age.Net.
And [stop] that, it's starting to get annoying.
RG> How's your semaphore [stop]

I think so. I don't possess a CD player (let alone a CD on my computer!
sniff!!!!), but I know a friend who has the same CD in question on
tape.
Should I ever get ahead monetarily, I want to replace my current
computer with one that has all the features I want. (Then I can invest
in CDs!!!)

AS> Ever READ "The Circus of Dr. Lao"? It was made into a movie, but the
SA> It's a book, too? Nifty. I liked the movie, "The Seven Faces of Dr.
SA> Lao" (with Tony Randall as Lao, of all things).
It's a SUPERB book. Oh, the movie comes close (done by the excellent
George Pal, the same producer who did the TIME MACHINE and WAR OF THE
WORLDS) on the major stuff, but there are so many fascinating little
details not mentioned. (Like mention of a previous circus that had a woman
and a donkey becoming the BEST of friends, shall we say, when the stage
fell in on them, and the mayor saying if better precautions were not made
they MIGHT have to rule out such entertainment altogether... )
AS> movie, although pretty good, could not catch the full flavor of the
AS> original. At one point this rather prudish schoolteacher went into
AS> one part of the freak show and came face to face with...Pan. Piping
AS> her inhibitions away....
SA> I remember that, from the flick. Cripes, how long ago did that movie
SA> come out? 30 years ago?
Yeah, in the sixties.
AS> And then there was the fortuneteller who told absolutely true
AS> fortunes, and told this woman,"You will meet no one exciting. You will
AS> keep on hoping you will until you die, and you will die unmourned, and
AS> no one will ever miss you." "But what's the use of me living, then?"
AS> "I don't know. I just read fortunes, I don't determine them."
AS> Paraphrasing here. Wonderfully funny and witty, pagan in the playful
AS> Arcadian sense, highly recommended.
SA> Drat; now you've got me wanting to see the movie again; a Toronto
SA> station runs it once in a blue moon, but I haven't seen them list it
SA> for a couple of years. I'll keep my eyeballs open for the book, though.
Do so. Highly, highly, highly recommended.
