The United States is a major contributor to the African Nations for the
benefit of the people. Food, medical supplies and other necessities are
sent. But money will not fix everything. Your god sent wome really swell
weather patterns that make it impossible to farm or raise animals as some
of the nomads do. Your god sent a virus that is killing two thirds of the
popuation. Wht did the unborn do to deserve congenital AIDS?

Your god sucks.

Why not try answering the question instead of sidestepping. It is a logical
fallacy of believing in an unevidenced god. You know this and refuse to

No. What I _DO_ fear is being taxed out of my livelihood by
liberals who steal from the working class to give to the lazy

do what it takes to curb the trend set by four decades of
democratic tax & spend policies.

Congress has always held the purse strings, and the president
has always served as a figurehead/scapegoat. Now that republicans
lead the congress, a republican president will allow changes to
be effected (affected? whatever) for the better.
Teamwork, instead of headbutting with butthead liberals.

That excuse holds no water with me. Bush, for better or worse,
was infinitely better than Clinton. You did have a choice.
(And Bush obviously was not a genuine fundy - he merely knew how
to gain support from the theistic masses by faking it.)
Did you ever examine his face for the giveaway "glazed eyes" that
real fundies have? He didn't have them. His eyes were those of
a sly fox. Clinton isn't smart enough to act sly.

GtP> This reminded me of a show I watched last night on TLC. It was an

GtP> descendent of King David. He indicated that what Jesus's followers
GtP> saw in him was the ACTUAL king of the Jews, come to free them. He
GtP> recounts the legend that Mary of Magdalene brought the "sangreal" to
GtP> France. What if, he asked, sangreal was NOT san greal, the holy cup,
GtP> but sang real, the royal blood. So that what Mary ACTUALLY had was
GtP> the unborn son of Jesus. (Given that "grail" or cauldron is
GtP> frequently a pagan symbol for womb, esp. the womb of the Great Mother,
GtP> it could work) (Great! Even the ancient myth writers are punsters.

You can read all about that in "The messianic legacy", by Henry Baigent
et. al. They play fast and loose with their historical sources, and
twist them to suit the particular conspiracy theory that they are pushing,
but if you're prepared to take it with a sack or two of salt, it's
quite a fun read. Not as good as Umberto Eco's "Foucault's pendulum",
though.

Can't you see the problem here?

You hold on to a book of literature that's around 2,000 years old with stories
and such from that time period and that society. The problem is that we
don't live in that society, we live in the here and now. While things can
be learned from the literary works of the past it is quite dangerous to
apply such things from yesterday to the world of today. One must keep and
ever expanding worldview, or be left in the dust.

How does it feel to not think and rationalize for yourself? I can see you'd

You are deluded. Read my above quote slowly, and at least three times.

No one knows. At this time, time travel is reserved for science fiction

You seem to rather confused. Here you state that things are `destined to
happen' yet you claim to have free will. The two contradict each other.

Quit shoving _your_ religion in the faces of others. Christians would not
catch so much shit if they'd just get off the damn street corners and leave
people alone.

Do you see people of other religions pushing their dogma on people? [Well,
besides the Hare Krishna...but then again they're not that pushing...they
just sing and dance].

Perhaps these people don't want to participate in your voodoo rituals.
Ever think of that?

The only place knowledge comes from the grey matter between one's ears...somthing
I see you lack.

You're an ignorant fool.

We [the western world] created more than half of the problems in Africa.
First through colonization, second by sending them a bunch of food. By
sending them free handouts we create an artificial situation over there.
The population increases because of the influx of food and then we end up
sending even more food.

The correct and pragmatic response to the situation would be to not send
them any food. That way their population levels would drop to a level at
which they could feed themselves off of the land that they have.

God does not provide my money. I _EARN_ it. I worked late nights and many
hours at slave labor wages to _EARN_ my money.

As for giving money, I am no position at the moment to give. That will
come later in life after I'm finished working my ass of earning a living
and paying my own way through the university.

Rest assured, I'm not planning on burning down the next block. I wrote
that to illustrate a big problem with christianity. It is evidenced by
the born-again prison inmates who you think will go with heaven to be with
this god dude because they accepted this hippy guy into their hearts.

I'm sure religious texts of other religions state the same thing to the

GRANDMA GOT RUN OVER BY A SHOGGOTH
(Tune: "Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer"
Style: allegro, con calamari)

[chorus]
Grandma got run over by a shoggoth
Looks like she's been mauled by angry Spam
Some folks say there's no such thing as Cthulhu,
But tell that to the thing that squished our Gram.

We had offered her the guest room
In our cottage by the sea,
But she insisted she would walk home
Though the night wind seemed to say "Tekeli-li!"

When we found her the next morning,
She was strewn about in chunks
She had been decapitated,
Crushed, and covered o'er with protoplasmic gunk.

[chorus]

Now we're all concerned for Grandpa,
Though the doc says he'll be fine
It just doesn't quite seem normal
To decorate a Christmas tree with Elder Signs.

All our relatives in Arkham
Called to share our bitter tears,
But we still declined their offer
To reanimate poor Grandma for New Year's.

[chorus]

Though the turkey smells delicious,
We're just not a hungry bunch...
How can we have Christmas dinner,
When the thought of Grandma makes us lose our lunch?

I tell all my friends and neighbors,
"This was Grandma's dying wish:
Just be ready with your shotguns
If, when Santa comes, he smells like rotting fish!"

(Sing it, Grandpa!)
[chorus, repeated ad nauseam... once should be enough :-)]

An interesting thought. Another plus in Islam's favor was the fact that

PS> Hell, this little 5' 8" guy would say the same thing with a smile.

Short jokes.

PS> And if someone really *did* send a demon after me, would I be around

RJ> Yeah, first I'd say, "OK, you're a better man than I am, Gunga

Having already been in a loonybin for observation (*not* a pleasant

But how does this relate to what you know women can and do learn on

because of a single chromosome?

RS> What's wrong with a little research? You could actually figure out
RS> that you were wrong about some things.

JS> Agreed. I just do not necessarily have the desire or the time. I
JS> do, however, read what those more educated in given areas have to
JS> say on these topics here, and take note of what they have to say.

RS> But you have enough time for your religion?

JS> There comes a time in one's life, that if he/she is going to be
JS> serious about this thing that time must be set apart for it. In other
JS> words, I take the time.

So what else takes up time in your life that you cannot spend time
to learn? Methinks it is that you have no desire to be shown wrong...

Sue

MH> Oh, so you'd rather people duked it out, or hid behind a weapon.
MH> I see. Good reasoning.

JS> I didn't suggest any such thing. I merely suggest that a person
JS> conduct themselves here as they would in person. Things would be a
JS> whole lot more constructive that way. I also pointed out that at least
JS> in my personal experience, people who discuss things face to face do
JS> not behave in the manner they do in an anonymous medium such as this.
JS> True, some do behave this way (usually when drunk) in person, but not
JS> the ratio as in this faceless medium. This leads me to believ one of
JS> two things:

JS> a. this place is populated by a large number of violent-pron or
JS> drunk individuals :), or
JS> b. it is something that is unwittingly promoted by fact it is a
JS> faceless medium .

People here are free to treat other people here with the level of
respect that is earned, not that enforced by external society's rules or
fear for personal safety. This echo is a society onto itself,
following the moderators rules. You just so happen to espouse a view
that is NOT respected and use tactics that show you to be a coward, so
in THIS society you are treated without respect.

MH> This medium precludes physical violence. This is a good thing,
MH> especially when the subject matter and peoples' tempers are
MH> considered. Why you're so disposed in using size as a reason for
MH> people to not debate with you is still, in one way or another,
MH> foolish.

JS> If people would use common decency with as measure of dignity and
JS> respect there wouldn't be this sort of problem.

There are many places that a non-theist viewpoint is NOT respected,
Jimmy. This just so happens to be a place that a strong fundy viewpoint
is not respected. No problem here, as you are free to leave whenever the
kitchen gets too hot for you.

MH> You're in a wholly different medium. You must accept that. It's not
MH> cowardly, it's simply the agent that is used to 'connect' us all. I
MH> can only advise you to 'get used to it.' Your complaint about size,
or
MH> the cravenness of the people here, is irrelevent.

JS> As it would/does not happen in 'real time' I see it as cowardly
JS> _and_ very relevant.

Like your abundant use of aliases....;)

Doing something that should leave lots of evidence and cleaning up

Which bible-thumper personality is this?
-=> Quoting Jim Staal to David Worrell <=-

JS> That you would have to sacrifice Biblical principles to do so is what
JS> would bother me, Lynda.

DW> Which Biblical principles has she sacrificed, Jim-bob?

JS> Not that it is any of your business, but it would appear that she
JS> is a bit unsure in regards to the immaculate conception and virgin
JS> birth of Christ, the resurrection, certain aspects of the after
JS> life, to name a few. You got a problem with that!?

Since when would these be principles that COULD be sacrificed?
These appear to me to be part of a belief system, not sacrificable
principles.

DW> Do you fuck for the glory of God, Jim-Bob? Do you take a shit for
DW> the glory of God? Goddamned moron.

JS> You are an extremely profane man who lacks the ability to converse

JS> In answer to your question, yes. God created the body and when it is

And how would you know?
